In OSTREON Inheritance, we embraced the Zero Trust security model, a paradigm that operates on the principle of “never trust, always verify.” It’s reflected by encrypting each customer’s data with his private key, which is never shared nor stored with OSTREON.
For this reason, OSTREON inheritance can’t reset your password if you forgot it. We don’t have your key to decrypt your data and encrypt it again with your new key (that is generated from your password). Zero trust is securing your private data, to make sure no one, not even OSTREON team, can access your encrypted data.
For that reason, if you have forgotten your password, you can log in using your recovery key or self recovery.
Your recovery key
Your recovery key is important measure to allow you access your accoung in case you rather forgot your password, or lost access to your 2FA. It’s a generated with 32 characters. No one except of you have access to consult this code – it’s encrypted with your private key, and never avaliable to OSTREON team.
You can find your recovery key in “My Account”, under “My profile details”.
Copying your recovery key is mandatory before setting a 2FA in OSTREON Inheritance, and highly recommended even you didn’t changed the default 2FA. For reminding you that, OSTREON will keep reminding you to do so in the “Attention” box in the Dashboard.
This recovery code is very important. Please keep it in a safe place, like in your password manager.
Login using the recovery key:
If you lost your password or access to your 2FA, on the login form, click on “Forgot your password?” option, below the login button.
You will be redirected to another login page, requesting you to insert your email address and your special recovery code.
By filling these fields correctly, you will be moved to another form allowing you to set a new password. This new password will serve you for your future login. If you lost access to your 2FA, go to “My Account” and change it.
